Young artist in his thirties still unknown in France, Liu Tao exposes himself to the Folia Gallery on an intriguing theme: “Ensauvage the world”. The Galerie Folia is located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, in the former premises of Robert Delpire and Magnum Photos. His mission ? Promote confidential and committed artists, emerging and unknown talents from all walks of life.
From 3 February to 30 March, the Folia Gallery will present the first European exhibition of Chinese photographer Liu Tao. You will discover three major series of the artist: A Weak Road (2012), Hungry Beijing (2013) and Shanghai Tian Wai (2014) which reveals a polymorphous work evoking loneliness, wide open spaces, nudity, street scenes , Aspiration and attraction. His work resembles a documentary of great artistic quality and marks his commitment to freedom.
Considered one of the most promising artists of his generation, Liu Tao was born in China’s Jiangxi Province in 1985 and now lives in Beijing. His A Weak Road series was awarded the Shanghai Biennial Youth Prize in 2013. His work in 2014, Shanghai Tian Wai, was rewarded with the 2016 Talent Award in the reporting category.
